A Brief History of Female Sweeps
During war time, particularly World War I and II, women stepped into traditionally male-dominated roles such as farming, factory work- and chimney sweeping!

While this war time surge in women chimney sweeps may have only been temporary, it demonstrated their capabilities and contributed to a broader shift in societal expectations.

Today, chimney sweeping remains a male-dominated industry, however there are now signs of change on the horizon. As well as Lisa, there are also one or two other female sweeps in the North of England. These include Lady Muck, working in the Penrith area, and Katie Sweep, an all-female sweep service, near York.
